We will bemonitoring our
courts for abusive, unprofessional and illegal behavior of our
judges, both elected and appointed. While it is crucial that
this information be disseminated to voters and reporting
authorities, it is equally important that the ratings be concise and
relative.
Too many surveys are
done without any ability to identify those responding. It is
not our intention to publish any information without the written
release of those who respond to our surveys, although the names will
be held in confidence. This will be done in order that we
avoid receiving ratings from those being rated, or those within the
system rating their friends. It is also not our intention to
publish any survey results from anonymous respondents. We are
not interested in the ratings of judges for other judges or
themselves, or by attorneys for judges (who may themselves one day
become judges).
This is about by-passing
the "approval by association" concept entirely. This page
serves to aid those of us who will be going before
judges.
Where possible, we ask
that negative allegations be accompanied by evidence in the form of
tapes or transcripts, or other means to identify the truth of the
ratings assigned.
This information will
serve several most valid functions:
~ Where necessary,
citizens can make all effort to remove bad judges from office
through the process of recall.
~ Where possible, we
will support our members in filing legitimate complaints against
judges, with the reporting authorities.
~ This information
will allow the voters to really get to know those judges they are
electing to offices, that informed choices can be
made.
~ This information will
allow us to collect the data needed to change laws regarding the
judiciary and other public servants where
necessary.
Redress will collect and
publish all biographical information on our judges as
possible.
