The purpose of this survey is to determine consumer
satisfaction with the various levels, jurisdictions and officers
that comprise the American Judicial System. We
will compare the litigants' perceptions of the American
Justice System to the incidence of Legal Abuse Syndrome
(LAS).
The study will assess the responses of 5,000
litigants nationwide. The study results will be posted
on-line. From the study, the we will be able to devise a suggested
protocol for the justice system to adhere to in order to work
effectively with non-represented litigants and help those litigants
(and court personnel) to avoid the onset of LAS. We are
concerned regarding the incidence of LAS which may develop into
physical symptoms of disease specific to stress.

Specific objectives are:
-
To identify any regions of the
United States or jurisdictions that function more satisfactorily
than others;
-
To identify specific causes
for consumer dissatisfaction;
-
To prioritize changes that
will better meet taxpayer expectations and needs; and
-
To identify major obstacles to
providing a justice system that ensures every person due process
and right to redress.
-
Collaborative effort needs to
be established between the dissatisfied citizen and those who
oversee the judicial system.
-
Law schools need to include
these "real life" issues as part of lawyer training and teach
mitigating methods.
